Planet Tyau 309, 2024

Glass & Sprayed Painted Rock

Planet Tyau 309 is a representation of a futuristic earth like world that Leilani imagines could be a possible outcome for the earth we know of today. These glass plant-like alien forms would be an evolution/reincarnation of the plant life we have today and will produce a variety of functions for the environment and those living in the area. This installation is a representation of a Garden from this imaginary world.

Leilani Tyau

Leilani Tyau is a glass artist, who also works with videography, photography, and textiles. Tyau loves combining her love for glass and videography to create immersive experiences for her viewers. When creating their work she is drawn to visual optics and retro futurism with a mix of chaos and harmony. Tyau is constantly thinking about time, memories and wanting to hold onto the memories with their art by taking photographs and videos and finding ways to incorporate these mediums with glass. She also likes creating glass forms based on memories or ideas about the possibilities of the future. She is currently attending CSUF for a BFA in Glass. Leilani has achieved: 2023 Kalota Scholarship for Glass Studies and 2024 Rose Sullivan and Rebecca Morales Memorial Scholarship.
